Product sub assembly is a process in which the semi-finished assembled product moves from workstation to workstation where parts are added in sequential order until you get the final product. These sub-assembled parts are moved from one station to other mechanically. Experts say that sub-assembly process works faster and needs less labor when compared to stationery assembly of product by one single person. This assembly process is technically called as assembly line.
Assembly lines are common methods used for automobiles, house hold appliances and electronic assembly manufacturing. This manufacturing process helps original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to spend less on the manufacturing process and will also need less skilled labor.
If a component is made of numerous parts and the assembly is complicated, an original OEM would take lengthier time for production and assembly. Using the services of company that offer sub assembly would help them to get best quality product in less amount of time.
Outsourcing large portion of the build to sub-assembly companies will leave employees with time that they can use for other tasks that could be critical for the company. The sub-assembly companies have a high rate of production, which helps companies to increase their sales. Such companies also reduce the risk of errors as the process is done by experts.
Few parts of a unit would require fine details or would need an expensive machine to manufacture. If OEMs undertake these tasks, they will need a trained and skilled worker or a costly machine. In many cases such requirements will not be viable for OEMs, especially the ones with low budget. Outsourcing the work can assure OEMs that parts are being built by experts and the finished product would be of high quality. This process helps OEMs to free their inventory space thus saving OEM’s money.
